Merlin (Falco columbarius), catching dragonflies (darners, to be specific) after sunset at Joe English conservation area in Amherst (Hillsborough County), New Hampshire. (You can see a dragonfly in the raised talons, and you can see the outline of the darner's wings against her body and the sky. Click the talons for a closeup.)

I used fill-flash to balance the light on the bird with the light behind the bird. However, the bird was just beyond the range of the flash, so the photos are a little dark.
